We create new businesses and repair inefficient ones.   Our main forté is to discover new businesses whose windows of opportunity are just opening and to work out the Business solution, mission and financial requirements and provide the "elusive" Return on Investment and Assets conclusions.

Our experiences have shown that the organizations are in desperate need for eBusiness Principals to work with their business staffs.  They want to use eBusiness to provide content, products and services to their customers.

They know that their profit margins will dramatically increase if they can market and sell services directly to their customers. HOWEVER, what they do not know is how to do it as a complement to their present distribution base or if an International Company how to market penetrate and gain market share in other than their domestic marketplace.

Almost two decades ago, we created a special worldwide group, a "team", the Consortium Opportunity Group - Strategic (COGS™) utilizing Gelb Organization employee's and external advisors whose roles were to act as the Consultants to multinational conglomerates on a strategic executive-level plane. The mission of the project allowed the discovery of new customers and new leading edge products and services using the web as a platform for business in the future.   This established the Gelb Organization as a unique supplier of new technologies and ideas, all provided by a "think tank" of worldwide Consultants.

We capitalized on the web by using it as a platform for the construction of the Worldwide Intelligence Network for New Enterprise Resources (WINNER), (Patent Pending) a special secured website for communication to customers, factories and as a bidding platform for projects. Additionally, WINNER™ instantly communicated to the R&D sections, product line, marketing staffs and engineering personnel of our clients; new technologies, new investments and results of consortium meetings with other powerful companies in a multitude of industries across the world.

COGS developed effective strategies to attain peak performance of sub-teams assigned to the various assignments that were initiated on behalf of our clients; to plan for, acquire and manage project resources and budget control of the strategic engagements; to advise the top management corporate tier structure on new technologies, tactics, strategies, businesses to enable their current electronic digital business initiatives including the design of new products; the creation of new OEM business products specifically for the eCommerce B2B or B2C or C2C environment.

How We Work -- The First Meeting

For the first meeting, we meet with your top management team, the heads of engineering and development, and your marketing and sales management people.

Our agenda for the first day consists of your team revealing:

We also have substantial experience negotiating strategic partnerships, including joint ventures, and angel and venture capital financing.

However, it is interesting to note that this point, that industry studies have established that as few as 2.5% of all strategic partnerships among high   technology companies are successful. One lesson to learn is that any partnership must be equitable for both parties. If either party thinks they have gotten the better deal, you can bet that the partnership is doomed. We can help you avoid the pitfalls in this area.

Another lesson learned is that all strategic alliances should have both time limits and milestone limits, based upon either unit or dollar sales. As many partnerships fail due to success, as from failure. Providing for success is one of the requisites for an equitable joint venture.

Identifying the best candidates for collaborating is one of the great business development challenges. Many organizations that have collaborated with large firms like IBM, Intel, Cisco, AT&T and Microsoft, have learned the hard way that large firms can be difficult and costly partners.

In most cases trying to strike a deal with an industry leader is not as productive as doing a deal with the Avis', the second best, which often makes more sense. These companies are hungrier and eager to overtake the leader.

Consequently, they often look more favorably on collaborating opportunities than do industry leaders. The real key to successful partnering and licensing is the careful analysis of prospective partners that helps determine who will prove to be the best partners based upon on a long list of criteria.

To illustrate, the Gelb Organization once invested three months identifying 85 companies that were highly qualified to license a technology patent.   Although we received a response of more than 40%, we were disappointed that it was not higher, because, based upon their markets and profiles, every one of the companies should have been interested in licensing the patent.
